Frankie’s Brownies is a gluten-free brownie company based in South London. Its founder, Frankie Spivey, wishes to draw in more customers and raise sales as the company expands to selling on TikTok Shop.

To prepare for this expansion, Frankie’s Brownies needed a website refresh. The Design Thinking Lifecycle was used to facilitate the change from beginning to end.

Abstraction Laddering

Abstraction laddering was a useful tool to understand the core of Frankie’s needs with the new site. Joining TikTok shop meant the possibility of many more sales, and the website needed to be able to keep up with the change + communicate Frankie’s joyful brand story.

Initial Website Audit


After an initial review we identified the site’s main problems. There was no visible hierarchy and the offerings were unclear. Frankie’s brand story didn’t shine through.

Competitor Analysis

Frankie was unsure about what she specifically wanted in her website, all she knew is that she wanted the site to improve. Together, we completed a competitor analysis to determine what she liked in a website and what she didn’t.
